ERA Antibes
The Espérance Racing Athlétisme d'ANTIBES, is affiliated with the French Track and Field Federation. Founded in the 50's by Paul Bellissent from the Joinville Squadron, the club boasted many successful athletes from Antibes in the following decades. The succession of top notch track and field managers continued the notoriusness of track and field pratice and can be seen in the may 1st Triathalon, the "boucles de Rotary" (the Rotary Circuits) and "courir pour une fleur" (running for flowers). Thanks to the managers and trainers, the ERAA has ben recognized by the French Track and Field Federation since 2006 with the obtention of the FFA National 4 level (equal to Cannes and Nice), this classifies the Club at the same level as the Maritime Alps. The ERAA has continued to invest in track and field practise during the 2008-9 season in maintaining the following sectors: Adult Leisure: a complete succes since it's creation in 2005 Baby Athlete: for 4 to 6 years of age.
THE DIFFERENT ORGANIZATIONSUnder the guidnce of Isabelle Charpiot, the president of the club, the volonteers are organized for the following events : Triathalon May 1st : Nearly 300 young athletes under 13 years from various regional clubs race against each other in the grueling triathalon event. Accompanied by their parents and friends, nearly 500 people gather in the yearly tradition at the Fort Carré. Les Boucles Pédestres du Rotary d'Antibes : Each year at the end of March, more than 300 outdoor runners take to the environmental paths of the La Salis beach. At the same time, 700 children from schools around Antibes and Juan-les-Pins take part in a mini initiation race which allows them to discover the Club and it's benefits. Courir pour une fleur : The oldest outdoor race, each October, the Club and the Sports sector of the Mairie of the Cité des Fleurs organizes this traditional course of over 4600 participants. There is also the following events : The Cross of Fort Carré, the Kits Athlétic as well as the French Ultra Festival d'Antibes.
